The Baby-G BG169CMB-8D takes camouflage, a street-fashion favourite, and gives it a playful grey colourway.
It's built on the compact, round BG-169 case with face protectors, and the camo print on the bezel and band partly hides the G-mark logo for a fun finish. Under the pattern sits a full digital toolkit: world time across 29 time zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, five alarms and a Super Illuminator LED backlight. A telememo stores up to 25 names and phone numbers, and a day counter counts down to a date you choose. Shock resistant and rated to 200m (20 bar), it runs for about three years on its CR1616 battery.

Inside a hollow case, the module (the heart of the watch) seems to float, so knocks from outside are softened before they reach it. The idea came from watching children play with a rubber ball.

G-SHOCK began with a dropped watch. Casio designer Kikuo Ibe saw a watch break when it fell, and proposed “a durable watch that would not break even if dropped”.
