Seiko has announced a trio of new and exciting models. Based on the latest generation of Prospex Speedtimer Chronographs, these new models embody the spirit of the original model from 1969, albeit offered with the latest technologies that the new Prospex Speedtimer Chronograph models now have. The three new models are all spirited timepieces, depicting the collection’s core design ethos all the while providing points of distinction and differentiation.
Each of the three new Prospex Speedtimer Chronographs are powered by Seiko’s Calibre V192. This is a calibre reliant on solar energy, be it from the Sun or an artificial light. When fully charged, the Calibre V192 has a power reserve of an incredible 6-months (without being exposed to light). It features a 60-minute chronograph, a 24-hour sub-dial and a date aperture that sits between 4 and 5 o’clock. In terms of chronometry performance, the Calibre V192 has a claimed accuracy of +/- 15 seconds per month at normal operating temperatures.
First off we have the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Chronograph reference SSC911P. This model features that ever-popular panda aesthetic, with a silvery-white dial offset by three black sub-dial registers, a date aperture with a black background and red hands. The hour markers and hour/minute hands are filled with luminescent material, and the thick bezel is black and features a tachymetre scale.
The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Chronograph reference SSC911P is encased in a stainless steel case with a diameter of 41.40mm and a thickness of only 13mm. The case size is quite understated, especially considering the amount of tech that lies beneath. The bracelet matches the utilitarian look and feel of the case, while SSC911P’s sporty look is complimented by those exposed chronograph pushers and crown.
