Why the seconds hand is red
Hilfiker's red seconds hand was inspired by the trowel held by train dispatchers on the platform.
Made with castor oil
The essence case is a bio-composite of 41% castor oil pressed from seeds, 27% fossil plastic, 30% glass powder and 2% colour.

About Mondaine
Mondaine's design began as a clock. In 1944 Hans Hilfiker, an engineer at the Swiss Federal Railways, created what became the Official Swiss Railways Clock. In 1986 Mondaine turned that patented design into a wristwatch collection, under official licence from the Swiss Federal Railways.
