Built not to break
A module that floats
Inside a hollow case, the module (the heart of the watch) seems to float, so knocks from outside are softened before they reach it. The idea came from watching children play with a rubber ball.
Tough Solar
A thin, film-like solar panel is fitted into the dial around the display, and it turns even weak light, such as from fluorescent lamps, into power.

About G-SHOCK
G-SHOCK began with a dropped watch. Casio designer Kikuo Ibe saw a watch break when it fell, and proposed “a durable watch that would not break even if dropped”. The project set itself the “Triple 10” goal: survive a 10-metre drop, resist water to 10 bar and run for 10 years on one battery. The first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, arrived in 1983.
