The light-powered Eco-Drive movement draws energy from natural or artificial light and holds around six months of reserve, so a battery change is never required. About Citizen
Citizen traces its roots to the Shokosha Watch Research Institute, set up in 1918 to make Japanese timepieces. Its first pocket watch was completed in 1924 and named CITIZEN by Tokyo mayor Count Shinpei Goto, in the hope that it would be loved by the citizens for many years. Citizen Watch Co., Ltd. was established in 1930, and in 1952 it introduced the first Japanese-made watch with a calendar.
